Comments about Schwinn 240 Recumbent Bike:

I found this bike to be extremely useful in helping to control my weight. The ride and transitions between stages is extremely smooth. I also love the various different programs that the system is capable of - it keeps the exercise period from getting bland as there is always a different challenge available just by choosing another program or difficulty level.

Comments about Schwinn 240 Recumbent Bike:

This bike was fairly easy to assemble. Programming the levels was difficult but did figure it out after playing around with it. The only other con is the seat is squeaky but not all of the time. It's a great workout, comfortable and I highly recommend it to anyone with low back issues and/or lower joint problems. The low impact workout it provides is great!

Comments about Schwinn 240 Recumbent Bike:

This bike is well made. I bought it for use with my son in mind. He is 300lbs so I needed something that could support his weight. This does the job. I don't have to worry about it breaking. The operation is very quiet. The seat is very comfortable and adjusts easily. The computer screen is a little funky to learn. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a bike that can support a heavier individual.

This is my second 240. After over 20 years of continuous use (four or more times per week), I was satisfied with the quality so ordered another one. Other than difficuly in installing the seat assembly, I'm very satisfied with the new 240.

Comments about Schwinn 240 Recumbent Bike:

Having injured myself years ago, and developing a resulting disability, movement and excercise were not easy to accomplish. I had a bariatric bypass in April, this year. I was facing the need to excercise, so as to facilitate a proper rate of weight loss and regain strength and most importantly, my health. The recumbent bike was the perfect choice. My physician and I discussed the different equipment possibilities, and decided that this bike was the ideal answer. I needed a low impact, cardio rich excercise and it is gentle on my injury. The seat is most comfortable and the range of motion doesn't result in overextending myself, nor pain. It is an integral part of my weight loss program and I cycle at least 30 minutes a day. Since April 7th, this year, I have lost 85 pounds and I am feeling healthier every day. I sleep longer and more deeply, stopped using insulin and look a whole lot better! Thank you for this recumbent bike and making it available to me! I had no idea how truly cherishable my good health was, until it was disappearing. I'm coming back from ill health and lousy shape...and loving every minute of it!

Yes. The Schwinn 240 Recumbent Bike uses a quiet magnetic ECB (Eddy Current Brake) resistance system.

As long as the doorway is wide enough (the bike is 25" wide) it should be fairly easy. The bike has built-in wheels in the front so you can lift it up from the back and roll it.

                          Hello Greg,
Wear parts refer to parts that wear due to normal wear. On the 240, this would include the foam grips.

Yes, the 240 is equipped with a 16.5LB perimeter weighted flywheel. By using a perimeter weighted flywheel design and high inertia gearing, the unit has a smooth balanced feel.

Most recumbent bikes I've used allow for kinetic energy from peddling to power the display. I'm finding my Schwinn 240 display will only turn on if the AC adapter is connected. Is my bike defective or is the design that the power cable must be connected?

Hello John, All Schwinn exercise bikes require the product to be plugged into an AC outlet. The only exception to this is the Active Series products. They require batteries.
