My husband had total knee replacements in both knees and his therapist told him to use an elliptical over a treadmill. We looked at some high end models, but cost & size stopped us. We went into a sports store and tried out different brands of moderate priced models. The salesperson said that he preferred the Schwinn over the more expensive models. We both liked how it felt in the store, so we bought it. No regrets. It did take about 5 hrs to put together, but I think you can trim off about 1-1 1/2 hrs off that, since my husband had hand surgery and tried to manage without me, plus he is very methodical, which means he spent more time than needed. IMHO I wish there was a backlit display and there is just this small annoying squeak, but I will figure that one out. We would both recommend the 420.

Comments about Schwinn 420 Elliptical - 2010 Model:
The machine was much easier to assemble than anticipated, despite the poor instructions. The pieces fit together very well. I was disappointed that only 1 user can be tracked as I have a family of 4 and 3 of us have to be guests. The fitness test is also not working. The console resets itself in the middle of the fitness test every time. Otherwise, the machine operates smoothly and quietly.

Comments about Schwinn 420 Elliptical - 2010 Model:
Product [...] works perfectly. High quality [...] The only reason for 4 vs a 5 is that 1 part was bent which made the original assembly a nightmare. However; we were able to get around it in time and everything else went smoothly.

Comments about Schwinn 420 Elliptical - 2010 Model:
This unit is quiet, sturdy, and very easy to use. Much better than a treadmill for me because I get joint pain in my knees and ankles from prolonged impact. This bike is exactly what I was looking for to get cardio exercise and increase endurance. The only drawback is that it is pretty big and you need a dedicated area to use it - doesn't fold away like a treadwill does. But I knew that when I bought it, so...

Comments about Schwinn 420 Elliptical - 2010 Model:
Really liked it from the beginning but the digital readout is weak and is starting to short out after a year. The handlebars could be a little more ergonomic. Needs more curve near the top. Can be difficult to mount and the riding position is a little high. Nice and quiet after a little tuning and graphite powder on the tracks. I still use it a lot but would not buy another...
