I'm 6'4" and the bike is too small to be useable. I talked with customer care before purchasing and they assured me it would work fine for someone of my height. They were wrong. It doesn't. A complete waste of money.

Comments about Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

Gave this to my wife who needed a recumbent workout bike. She loves it except for the "cons" listed above. She is not a large woman, but the seat is really poorly designed and is the biggest drawback to an otherwise great machine, especially for the money. We both use it for basic cardio workouts and can watch a movie or listen to music while we workout. Understanding the programs is a challenge because the manual offers nothing and the online version is not much help. You have to poke around to figure things out (still haven't and we have used it for about seven months). My bottom line non-recommendation is based solely on the seat. An improved seat makes this a really good machine, but the seat is pretty important on this kind of workout machine.

Comments about Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

I bought this bike for rehab for a total knee replacement that I just had. Couldn't use an upright bike yet so this unit enabled me to get the exercise and knee function that I had to get to gain range of motion for my knee. I had been in rehab for several weeks and the recumbent bike is now my rehab at home. It works very well and my mobility has greatly improved since I started using this bike. Plan to to continue to use it after rehab to maintain cardio fitness and my knee function from now on. Wish it came with a written manual for the display.

Comments about Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

I purchased this bike after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. The Doctor said I needed to keep moving but to do something that was not so hard on the joints. He suggested a recumbent bike. After finding the Schwinn 230, I quickly purchased it because it offered what I needed at a price that I could afford.
I use it at least 4 or 5 times a week and it gives a great cardio workout that I can customize for my specific needs. My husband also uses it and gets a great workout. He is more athletic than I am and this machine offers what we both need! I definitely would recommend it to everyone who needs a great exercise bike for a great workout and a great price.

                        A:

Hi Johnnie. The main differences are how the bikes look cosmetically, the look of the display and the amount of programs available on the machine. For example, the Schwinn 230 has a standard LCD screen, whereas the Schwinn 270 has a back-lit LCD screen. Functionally though, the bikes are fairly similar.

Hello there! Replacement parts for your Schwinn 230 recumbent bike may be obtained by calling our Customer Care department at 1-800-605-3369. Our call center hours of operation are 6 am - 5 pm M-F, Pacific Time. I recommend having the serial number for your bike available when you call in. This is necessary because we have a couple versions of the Schwinn 230 bike and they both use different pedals. Providing us with the serial number will allow us to quickly determine which version of the Schwinn 230 you have and provide you with the correct part number and pricing information. The serial number can generally be found on the underside of the rear stabilizer. It is a long, alpha-numeric number that usually begins with "100".

Hi Barbie! I am sorry I misunderstood your original question! As there isn't a way to adjust the contrast on the display, there may be a problem in the console itself. So that we can determine the cause of the issue, please call our Customer Care department at 1-800-605-3369 when you can be with the machine so we can troubleshoot and come to a resolution. Does the seat back adjust to a more upright position? I have a bad back.

The angle of the seatback cannot be adjusted, although you can adjust the seat to be closer to or further from the console. We do sell upright bikes as well.

With the adjustable seat, most anyone can comfortably ride this bike and adjust the distance to the pedals as needed.
