Gave this to my wife who needed a recumbent workout bike. She loves it except for the "cons" listed above. She is not a large woman, but the seat is really poorly designed and is the biggest drawback to an otherwise great machine, especially for the money. We both use it for basic cardio workouts and can watch a movie or listen to music while we workout. Understanding the programs is a challenge because the manual offers nothing and the online version is not much help. You have to poke around to figure things out (still haven't and we have used it for about seven months). My bottom line non-recommendation is based solely on the seat. An improved seat makes this a really good machine, but the seat is pretty important on this kind of workout machine.

Comments about Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

I bought this for a relative that had a stroke. I had to diagnose the issue myself. Once diagnosed to satisfaction, it will take 60 days to get replacement part or 15-30 days to replace. Do not buy this if you have a relative relying on you.

Comments about Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

Assembly was quite easy and only took about 30 minutes. The display is not backlit which would make it much easier to see/read while working out and there were no instructions include for the display for setting it up. They were easily accessible online, but if you're not computer literate setting everything up may be a challenge. Overall, I feel like for the money it was a better choice verses the other bikes we looked at and the name Schwinn made me feel like it would be a quality product.

Great product. Use this bike 4 or 5X per week. All of the programs and build quality are perfect...but, the seat could use a little ergonomics and the heart-rate function is useless. Also, a delete info button would be good.

I could not find this in the user's manual, but do you need to leave the AC adapter plugged in when the bike is NOT in use? It did say something about sleep mode in the troubleshooting. Will it lose settings/preferences if it's unplugged? My current bike is connected a surge protector that has a fan and TV attached to it. When not in use, I turn the surge protector off. It retains it's memory with a battery.

I select any program work out or manual and it goes for 4 second and then says workout paused. I am pedal-ling the whole time and it does this. I have unplugged and replugged in and I get the same.

                                  What might be the issue?

The plug for the 230 is in the front, at the bottom. If you look on page 17 of your owner's manual, you will see a drawing of where it goes. Thank you.

The Schwinn 230 has a heart rate workout program which requires you to grip the sensors with your hands for the duration of the workout to adjust resistance and keep your heart rate in the desired zone. The sensors connect to the computer via a 3.5mm jack by the seat. My question stands unanswered, is there a wearable heart rate monitor that will connect to this model so I do not have to grip the hand sensors for an hour or more?
